Survivor
The memories had faded
The scars have healed
Her skins gone soft
And her eyes have gone dry
She’s forgotten his smile
The look in his eyes
And the way his putrid stained soul
Seeked of only nightmares
She can still see him laughing
Yet the noise has faded into silence
The road ahead is much brighter
Than the one traveled before
Her smile shines bright
And her voice no longer shakes
She’s hit rock bottom
And got back up
She isn’t a victim
She’s a survivor

What inspired me to write this piece was the simple fact that I needed to understand that no matter what happened, I needed to stay positive and always get back up. The past is always going to be there to knock you down, but you need to continue to get back up and brush yourself off.
