The Unraveling Scarf

Dark alleys make me shiver
Quite cold to the marrow
At these thoughts I quiver
And shudder in the snow

All I have is a scarf
That is scraggly and black
Thin as paper, wispy as leaves
I found it in The Sack

The Sack is full of things that you desire
But they are truly things you despise
I needed love, I needed warmth
This scarf is all lies

I wrap it around my frostbitten body
Only making it more uncomfortable to bear
I just cannot let it go
My heart would freeze, I would not dare

So tightly it was wrapped
That I almost lose my breath
Once it started tearing
I began mourning for my death

All of a sudden, it ripped
And I fell into soft grass
I inhaled the savoring smells
Not of poisonous, choking gas

Then my eyes slowly opened
The sun burning seeped through my skin
I gasped at the beauty of truth
And smiled deep within

I thought it was good, as you're work always is...but it was a little too dark for me. I really don't like the cold so iIfelt kinda blah. That's ok though because this poem irked some emotion in me, which is a really good thing.
