My Philosophy On The Love My Parents Exchange
If you have parents that have been married for an utterly long time, you know exactly what I am talking about:
The disappointed sighs that escape your mother’s lips as she walks in the door from an exhausting day at work. The crunch of the dirty couch as your father slumps right into it after work, in the exact spot that he slept in last night. The nonexistent kisses and hugs being traded & the nonexistent whispers of promises and “I love you’s”. The rattle of both of their doors being slammed because they cannot bear to sleep in the same bed anymore. But you wonder, how could this be? Because you and your older siblings recall the memories when they used to bend their head’s back and laugh in sync. You remember when they held each other’s hands, even if it was 110 degrees in the backyard. Yet now they do not even posses the decency to look each other in the eyes.
My mother discovered the impressiveness of other men. My father unraveled the pleasure in downing 10 bottles a night. And with those findings combined, love was obliterated.
