This Is My Dream

I close my eyes,
And feel the drowsiness take over.
I fall into the unfathomable abyss of my mind,
And sit up in a confused state.
I suddenly realize this is my world,
And time is not of the essence.

My dream could be full of obscurity,
Or maybe I have a lite pathway
Maybe I’m surrounded
By the sweetness of sugar plums,
Or possibly I’m confined
In a catastrophic encasement.

Maybe I’m praised like a king,
Or suspended in the dungeons like a peasant.
I could be on the highest peak,
Or a low grassy plain.
I could be unwinding on a sandy beach,
Or freezing in frozen tundra.

But in my head it’s my world
This is my dream.

This poem doesn't look at things I've seen in my dream, but it looks at the general idea of dreams.
