Hot to Not Come Out to Your Parents
Never mention that you have no
intention of falling in love with a guy. You must
steer away from that intervention. Don’t talk about
the new movie coming out, the one with a gay main character. Don’t talk about
that cute girl at school,
the one with the hair that looks so soft to touch, and how
you’d love to feel it between your fingertips.
Yea. That’s pretty dangerous
territory. Don’t talk about how,
even if she may be straight, you really want to
tell her how you feel,
how she always catches your eye in the hallway,
her smile as bright as the sun.
Just to stay safe,
don’t talk about the people
from school at all.
Talk about the characters
you’ve created for a fantasy world:
A story of adventure, of dreams,
and of love. The world
created with anything
you could imagine, a dreamscape
as infinite as your imagination
my thoughts all twisted and turned together.
Only in this world,
with peace, with tranquility,
I would be free
to say the truth.
