Selfish Sky

I long to be among the stars,

and no, I do not mean celebrities.

I mean the real stars, in the endless sky.

To see them from below makes me wonder,

am I bound to serve down here forever?

Did I give some pledge or state an oath

for a life of damnation here, on this planet?

I long to be among the stars,

to find serenity and eternal ecstasy.

To soar high with them in the sky.

Seeing them from below makes me wonder,

why do they tease me from above?

Did the give an oath to the midnight sky to be kept away?

Did they form some sort of community and pledge to stay away forever?

Selfish stars, selfish sky.

Why do you leave me, why do you abandon me?

All I want is to find eternal peace, yet you fly away, or rather stay in one place.

I look up to you and wonder why.

Why are you so far away?

Selfish Sky.

If I had a star for everytime life threw me down, I would have a whole galaxy.
