Concoction

It was a Friday night

A party was in full swing

Booze of all types covered

The tables and counters

Music blasted throughout

The house filled with

Teenagers consuming random

Drinks made by friends

Kids drunk not sure

What they are doing

As one boy finds the keys

To a truck parked outside

Taking some friends with

Him to the big car

Driving down the long street

Alcohol controlling the car

The young teenager had

No control over the truck

That held him in his seat

Unlike his friends who

Were not held into their

Seats yelling and swinging

Their arms back and forth

Soon all movement stopped

And the boy in his seat

Still strapped in had his

Head attached to the steering

Wheel with his friends next

To him laying on the hood of

The car with his legs still in

The truck not moving

Neither of them moved

The boys in the back of

The car had their heads

Cracked on the windows while

The boy in the middle

Laid between the boy

With his head on the

Steering wheel and his

Friend through the windshield

There was no movement

There was no breathing

Booze no longer drove

The car, no one drove

The car, the five boys

Just laid there asleep

As their bodies laid there

Bleeding and aching

The author's comments:

What inspired me to write this poem on the specific topic, drunk driving, is because I feel like it is too much of a common problem reoccurring thoughout the world. I hope that people get a feeling from this poem that makes and helps them understand one of the many dangerous outcomes that can come from driving drunk.
