He told me he prays for a home in the hills,
I thought he was crazy
He drew a dragon with his blood,
a butterfly with a waterfall
He drew a shark in the sand,
a woman who looked like a mannequin
I drew a fire in the ocean,
seperated by the moon
He drew his childhood bathroom,
and a man with two faces

I asked him what was next,
that I was trying my best
He was proud and just wanted change,
my bank account full and a home in the hills
He says he was a little crazy,
but I’m still his son
He showed me what he kept in his safe,
I told him about the painting on the wall
Life’s changing fast,
I wish the hardest times would last

My father and I don't ususally talk much. I came home today to hear that we are broke, my dad lost his job, and our house is foreclosing. How he just wanted to move away and live off the land... in a home in the hills. I told him I'm trying to find out what I do best in life. I told him about my writings and drawings and paintings and showed him, and we talked about painting together, and all the crazy paintings he had made as a kid. What I found out was that we think the same way creatively, and he actually understood me. Something I didnt think could happen, so I came and wrote this.
