Morbidity of Drugs
Once you start you cannot stop
You’ll crave it more and more
The light of day will soon be gone
And your world will be enclosed in darkness
You’ll lose your friends, your family, and peers
And eventually yourself
Once you start you cannot stop
You will regret and feel much pain
Your body will suffer and be in agony
You’ll feel eternally sick; both body and mind
Your hair will fall out, and teeth will be stained
You’ll tremble and shake uncontrollably
Once you start you cannot stop
Your body won’t be able to handle it
Mind over matter you might say
But you lost control over everything
It made you depressed, scared, and hopeless
All of your choices spiraling out of reach
Once you start you cannot stop
Your brain has been possessed
You sleep during class what you can’t at home
And you rarely speak a steady word
Your grades turn into trash
As your memory depletes
Once you start you cannot stop
You are an empty vessel with a lost soul
All the money that you once had had
Is now replaced by drugs
Your futures lost, your life is gone
What’s the point of living any longer
Once you start you can stop
But only if you’re dead
Once you start you can never go back
Your life is over, it’s gone, extinct.

This piece was inspired by a someone close to me, who had been struggling with a drug addiction. It was originally a way to share the word on how drugs could poorly effect someone's life, but turned into a piece on how my loved one slowly changed over time. My goal for this piece is to share with other people how drugs will change a life perminately, and hopefully help prevent people from participating in such destructive behavior.
