Down the range
I walk into the crisp range.
A tall man greets us for i know why not.
It is his priority to ensure we are ready.
Father and I grab our gear from th van,
and embark on the 3 hour stop.
Father grabs the shotgun and fires a few rounds.
Then he asks me, "why not take a shot?"
He hands over the 28 guage, hoping with please.
I sit on the cold seat as the birds continue to tweet.
"Why not" I tell myself in the crowd, aiming swiftly down the range.
I load the 3 shots and with dought
miss the first fire by the spout.
I chamber the next on touching the cold metal,
and with please hit it right as the mark.
feeling confident my father in awe,
asked me to fire towards the mark.
I overly joyed
fired the weapon, making the shot.
