Hubris
I am the riddle.
I took shelter in the form of a Sphinx,
Patiently awaiting my main match.
The day finally came
When Oedipus the Great solved me.
How painful it shall be,
For him to learn that I, his greatest achievement
Was, in fact, his greatest tragedy.
For I did not go over the cliff with the Sphinx,
But I rested in Apollo
Until the day came for Oedipus to solve me for the final time.
