Quiet and Empty

September 11, 2014

Everywhere around me

it’s quiet, dried leaves surround me

and the smell of pumpkins

mixed with the dry air.

At night little creatures roam the earth and hunt for candy.

Their eyes are empty, clouded by their selfish desires.

Something temporary, once filled but always empty.

Hours later, the sun breaks the barrier created by the moon

and a new day begins.

New scents occupy the air

Cinnamon, pumpkin spice, and apples.

I wish the world could stay like this forever.

I wanted to really capture the feeling of fall, specifically on the day of Halloween, because after Halloween, it's November and suddenly christmas music is playing everywhere!
