You are the prisoner of your life,
Locked away in a 6 by 8 foot cell.
Secured by brass bars
and prison guards treating you
as if you are some sort of animal.
Tied to the leash of pressure
Commands being thrown at you like
hammers wailing on a board.
Over and over until the hammer
can’t possibly hit the board anymore.
Not knowing how to deal with the
weight of college, and careers along the way
the prisoner now trying to free oneself
from this uncanny life you live.
Breaking free from all leashes and guards
living the remarkable life you wish you had.
You look up to the bright blue sky
and declare
I am FREE
