We've all lost something;
Love, virginity, cats, pens, hopes.
Maybe we misplaced them,
like in that shoebox in the closet
or in an old coat pocket, the one your grandfather used to wear.
So we become bitter and frustrated,
but in time, we learn that sometimes loss is just a natural thing.
As natural as the tides tease the shore with her foamy waters.
There are some things that aren't meant to be found.
So don’t go looking.

People should know it's okay to have things fall apart and not be able to fix them every time. We only have so much control over life and dwelling on the things we did wrong doesn't change what has already happened. Loss at any degree is something every human being since the beginning of time has experienced, so don't think you're alone and an exception. Life happens and you shouldn't always search for a reason why. Go with the way the tides pull you and accept you will be okay and eventually you will heal. When I wrote this I had been hurt by someone I had trusted as a friend for years. I was so tired of trying to justify the pain they inflicted and realized it's wrong for me to keep trying to find a reason to make it okay when it wasn't. I cut that relationship string and I can easily say I sleep better at night. Life can be simple if you let it be. Live simply and constantly flow with the breezes of change.
