Swaddling her baby doll
as she skips around in her
imagination,
she plays a motherly role.
What a good mommy she will be,
her mom thinks,
one day.

One landmark after the other,
time flies by.
She passes, excels, and sprints after her dreams.
With the man of her fantasies,
she’s ready for her
real life game of house;
everything she’s waited for.

But things aren’t as easy
this time.
The attempts at creation
miscarry,
leaving the couple
alone, broken hearted,
and on a pursuit
for an explanation.

Things will never be
as she imagined,

when the doctor diagnoses
