Eternal Friend
Set below the second sea
Here lies
An extension of Mother’s ribs
Delicate ice cold
Bones take the color of
Sedimentary, maybe
Igneous on the coast
And metamorphic as Mother
Turns slower every slumber
She turns as she dreams
The atmosphere clings to her gown
Water pulled from
The heavens above
Is rain
Falling
Slower, slower
The remnants lie across
The second sea
Clouds, maybe
From her icy feet
A southern wind
Blows across the first sea
To the bases of
Exposed rock
Chills run
Mother pulls her sheet closer
Covered
She exhales
Up the coast
From the first sea
To land
White and grey
Clouds crawl to
Meet their eternal friend
Sea foam and fog reluctantly
Release their grip
As dew cries
Farewell overhead
Giants
Staring up
Miles above its
Lowly perch
The clouds
Show no stop
Onward
To destiny
The crescent moon
Beckons softly
Remember me
Before Mother forgets
Disinterested
Weightless
The clouds press on
Caution
Warning the rolling
Hills preach
Turning back is no longer
An option
On ‘til morning
Until the end
A destination
After a journey
A sign of comfort
Clouds reach their hand
Out
To scrape the
Surface to
Understand the mystery
Of the
Mountain
Coldly does it speak
No reply must it make
Please
Return to me
Good friend
See the miles
There is no return
Miracle light
Shines down
Morning
Breaks open
The mystery
Slowly, slowly
Mother
Covering herself
With gold
Pleading painfully
Mercy, mercy
My struggle
Lost
In the morning
Light
Open the caverns
To give salvation
Hide me once
Return to me
Hope was gone
Eyes closed softly
Once more
Facing death
Only to pray it was
Painless
Seconds before
A hand grabbed
And pulled the clouds
To safety
The light did not
Seem satisfied
It failed to
Finish the clouds
Hidden in the arms
Safely in the
Opening
At the side of
An ancient friend
A smile was enough
To pierce the stony
Layer of rock
O, how joyous
To be saved
From the rays
Of an enemy
Eternally paired
Sided together
To last throughout
The ages.
