Soldier
Soldier going home from the nasty war,
Smells like blood everywhere he goes.
He can hear the faint little cries from the soldiers dying all around him,
Cringes to the sound of the soldiers screaming in pain
Seeing the soldiers dropping makes him cringe and crumble to the sound of them going down.
He thinks to himself that could be me, not going home to my family.
He feels his body trying to run home to his wife and baby girl
He can see them waiting at the door for his return
He can see his wife’s shining smile,
He can hear his baby girl’s giggle and her little dimples that show,
Seeing their smiling faces light up my mind like the sun radiates up the world.
He still feels the guilt that he had to see his friends lying on the field dying slowly and painfully,
Feels the sweat pouring off of him because he feels horrible, happy, and exhausted.
Exhausted from the horrible war that went on that felt like forever,
Pain is coming back to him from seeing his friends on the ground helpless,
Nothing can be done for what happened to them.
Hears the sound of when the battle first started,
Hears the piercing sound of guns, cannons, and all the artillery guns going off.
Hears the booms, bangs that are booming everywhere he goes.
Day by day he could see them drop and they had to move on without them.
Feels the guilt of what he had to do to the other people on the other side of the battle field.
Going away from the battle to home is the best thing that happened.
