"Without deviation from the norm, progress is not possible." - Frank Zappa

Let your music drown out my thoughts
If only for a moment set me free
From this prison, these shackles, the jail of the mind
Imperfect soul, ensnaring flesh
Smother me with your voice
Your vices, emotions
Your fall from grace
Bare your flaws for all to see
So I can be spared the sight of mine
Compel your lyrics to kill my verse
So I can fall into some blank abyss
Let your angry imperfect genius
Flow through my veins like dirt
So I can find peace
In surrendering

Music inspired me to write this poem. Powerful music can wash away one's worries, issues, and thoughts. The specific song that moved me to write this was Heroin by The Velvet Underground.
