It's a Shore Thing!
The time has arrived,
I have waited all year,
The sounds of waves crashing
Is music to my ears.
I have waited to feel the sand on my toes,
Waited to smell that salty air,
I have waited to hear the ice cream man call,
Waited to feel the breeze blow through my hair.
I hear the cry of seagulls nearby
In search of a morsel or two,
I hear the lifeguard’s piercing whistle,
Directing those frolicking in a sea of blue.
Sandcastles of memories line the shore
Where the children spent the day,
I sit and watch the tide come in
In waves of blue and gray.
The day is now ending,
The Sun is going down,
I gather my things,
My face in a frown.
My frown then turns into a smile
As I remember,
My beach days continue
Until September.
