Two Sided Tale

In the beginning, all was quite fine,
Jekyll was well-made and most divine.
His intelligence emanated in rays off of his light-hearted tongue,
Jekyll was good-natured and dapper.
His personality was quaint and never overcome.

But then he became darkly mysterious.
He was dismal and somber,
He saw no being.
He changed,
Something deep-seated emerged,
And the first signs Hyde came forth.

Hyde struck first at an innocent man,
For Sir Danvers Crew had done no bad.
He broke out in a great flame of anger,
Pummeled the lad
And all that was left was half a walking stick, envelope, and people, ever so mad.

Now, it must be understood, Hyde was hellish to see,
He was actually a walking calamity.
His actions were down-right detestable,
His recklessness was disgustful,
His appearance was wicked,
His expression was grave and his thoughts insane,
And his presence uneasy and full of despair.
He acted inordinate and abominable,
He was disconsolate and separated.
It truly seemed the world was nothing to him.

Then Jekyll vanished into hiding,
For nobody knew why.
He was never seen,
Not even under a blue sky.
He locked himself in a cabinet,
Alone and constrained,
When he surfaced, if he was noticed, he cowered and left the scene.
Whatever happened to Jekyll in that cabinet?

Hyde happened.

The evil Mr. Hyde took over Dr. Jekyll,
Never to be released.
That little potion changed Jekyll’s life for the worst.
Only now have the two deceased.
Jekyll ended Hyde once and for all,
Never again will he return,
As his shared body rots away,
The dark memories of him will never decay.
