"I've been told that peopple in the army do more by 7:00 A.M. than I do in an entire day. But if I wake at 6:59 A.M. and turn to you to trace the outline of your lips with mine, I will have done enough and killed no one in the process." -Shane Koyczan

it's 12 a.m. and i can't deal
with the consistent
loneliness
the beating of my heart
out of it's own
rhythm
i am trying to come up
with perfect words for
you
it will always be you who
i think of last at
night
the one who causes
the deep and heavy
ride
rolling in slowly at first
but eventually becoming
poison
it all comes down to this one thing
which seperates us;
distance
the distance is overpowering
but it is also
everywhere
engulfing me as i realize just how
much you make me
feel
i want to become one with
the spaces between your
fingers
i want to be intertwined with
the speeding rate of your
heart
the blankets will be cold without
two people tapped
inside
we are connected but
at the same time
seperate
as i try to find the
perfect arrangment of
syllables
that will make you feel
the way i do, completely
lost
it's a bittersweet thing, knowing
you're just a few clicks
away
but really oceans,roads, and
miles and miles
apart
it's 12 a.m. and the light goes out
our fingers are being torn apart by
distance.

The author's comments:
This piece was written late at night, when I was really contemplating how distance can either make or break something. I think that if something's meant to be, there will always be a struggle to test it. And in my case the struggle was, and still is, distance.
