Buried

I’m not what I once was,
I used to rule the world.
I used to be able to see from horizon to horizon,
Far above everyone else.

Under rock, sand, mystery,
I lay waiting to be found.
What we looked like,
How we lived,
Everything about us yet to be told.

Kids adore us, adults study us.
The world’s fascination refuses to rest.
Though time has killed us,
Though time has buried us,
We still have stories to tell,
We still have minds to captivate.

And I will tell my stories,
And I will captivate minds of the young and the old.
Even though I’m not what I once was,
I still rule the world,
I still see from horizon to horizon,
And I am still waiting to be found.

I based this poem off of my fascination and love of dinosaurs and their fossils. The world really is fascinated by these creatures of mystery, and there will always be new things to discover.
