the lost
Lost in the woods
Where the storms never fade.
The endless clouds that bring
The rain that I know was thrust upon me
When I entered this forest
Wondering when will it end
Only to find shelters to be made.
Shelters for what
Protection from sorrow. Ha!
No protection from rain.
You cannot build protection from sorrow
For sorrow can enter the shelter.
There may be days were there is no rain
And the leaves glisten from the rain of last night
Then there are others where the rain comes as
If it’s a monstrous tsunami that
Destroys everything in its path.
Shelter can only protect
From the physical
Never the mental.
You can bottle it up
And have it hidden away
But something will always
Be there to uncover what has been hidden
They will use it against the mind
Always opening those old wounds
No matter how strong the mind is
It can always be hurt
Using sorrow as a weapon
Is like lemon juice on an open wound.
But remember this
There are other people in this forest.
Those people have always been there
They watch and sometimes
Help to move the clouds away
To let the sun down to lead
The way through the forest
When the sun is there
The rain has no power
