I lay in the cool grass
Looking up at the stars,

You lie next to me;

I tear my eyes
From the starry heavens

So full of love and hope

I move myself closer
To your warm body;

I lay my head on your chest,

I turn toward you

A whisper, just barely heard
Over the sighing wind:
"I love you."
I kiss you softly,
My heart beating fast.
You kiss me back,
Holding me tight.
Our chests are pressed together;
Our hearts beating as one.
Time stops and everything
Becomes silent
As we lay there together,
The other feeling like
They might explode from
Sheer joy at being together.
