Leave Me
If you are going to leave me,
within the darkness I own.
Keep a promise honey,
to never go at it alone.
If you are going to leave me
to dread my very own existence.
Swear I did not drain your flee.
As I cannot maintain this indifference.
If you are going to leave me
in this time of need.
I will neglect to foresee
that I was not simply just a weed.
If you are going to leave me,
as I know it to be true now.
I can continue to guarantee
that I will painfully love you somehow.

I was inspired to write this poem partly due to the recent death of my uncle and my childhood pet Georgia. She brought me through many obstacles as a child, most commonly due to issues with my parents and often having to parent myself. However, I wanted to word this piece so that you could apply it to many different situations including heartbreak in a friendly or romantic way.
