I have always had dog

One was different

We spent our lives together

He loved everyone

He was always around

Just waiting at the door-

Until you got home

He would sit on your shoes so you had to stay

He loved everyone and everything

Besides fireworks

He was different...

He was not scared

Nothing scared him

But he would try to eat them

Burning himself many times

He was so happy and funny

I wondered what it would be like without him

Then I stopped wondering

The morning i was going downstairs

I was caught off guard

Just standing in shock

There he was laying on the ground

Slowly jerking and twitching

And just whining in pain

We knew his time was up

We rushed to the vet

Slowly watching the life drain from his eyes-

Like a cup with no bottom

We got him ready to sleep one last time

The whimpering stopped

The room went silent and still

You could just watch as his eyes lost every bit of color and life

The room was just empty

A gaping hole in the center of the room

And in my heart
