Umbrella
It was another rainy day
The men were sitting at the table
Coffee steaming their faces
The day looked grainy
The droplets on the window seemed to be getting
Bigger
Bigger
BIGGER
Until the door opened-
And all I could see was a red umbrella
She tried to get in through the door
It didn’t work very well.
She stumbled onto the barstool
Her rain filled hair dripped onto the floor
Once she got there
Time seemed to go
FASTER
Faster
Faster
I’ve never seen that red umbrella again
Only because-
I bought her a new one
