Thank God it is Summer Time
Thank God it is Summer Time
The sun is shining high in the sky.
Laying on a towel in my swimsuit, I can feel the hot rays hitting my body.
The sun wraps me in warmth,
leaving my skin with a dark bronze color.
Thank God it is summer time.
There is a light, warm breeze blowing through my hair.
My hair feels weightless and has a faint smell of chlorine.
The dark color has been bleached from the sun,
leaving it bright and alive.
Thank God it is summer time.
The river sparkles in the sun as little waves clap onto the bank.
The water is warm but cools my body from the summer heat.
My feet dig into the sandy beach.
Thank God it is summer time.
Country music is blaring through my speakers.
With the windows down,
my friends and I scream the lyrics as we cruise down a backroad.
Thank God it is summer time.
As the sun goes down, the party starts.
Laughing with friends as a fire crackles in the background.
We stay out until dawn, just to do it all over again.
Thank God it is summer time.
