Mother to Son
Well, son I’ll tell you life
ain’t been no blue sky.
It’s had dark clouds
In it and lighting strikes
And tornados
And places flood sometimes
Frequently.
But all the time
I’se been very safe
And calming the family down,
And getting through the long days,
And sometimes goin in the dark
Where there ain’t been no light.
So boy, don’t you get scared.
Don’t you sit down on the floor,
Cause you find its very hard
Don’t you be upset now
For I’se still be moving forward, love
And life for me ain’t been no blue sky.
