Lonely Girl

One lonely day I was sitting on the beach
Watching the waves splash and the fish jump
It got lonely not having anyone to comfort me
Sitting, waiting, and watching is what my day consisted of
I gathered sea shells to make the time pass
Building sandcastles alone

I look up and something, more specifically
Someone catches my eye
I daze at him morning noon and night
I try to make a point to talk to him but I am just too shy
Then he bumps into me spilling liquid down my dress, he apologizes
Then we dazed into each other’s eyes for a significant amount of time

After that moment we spent every waking second together
Breakfast, lunch, dinner everything was perfect
We ran up and down the beach, splashing and playing in the water
Then we took a seat on the beach watching the tide roll in and out
He grabbed my hand and asked “Why are your hands so cold?”
I replied sweetly “Because all my warmth is in my heart.”

I finally found my prince charming
We sat there in that moment that I would never forget
But suddenly the sky darkened and the tide rolled higher and higher
It pulled him in I chased after him but I was much too weak
As he was pulled into the huge ocean he yelled out “I love you”
I never saw my prince charming, my sweet darling, my love ever again

In class we had to write a narrative poem with twist at the end that the reader would not suspect. I wrote this because of all the romantic movies always ends with the guy getting the girl and everything is perfect.
