Little Flame
The sun sets past the horizon.
My tired eyes survey the night sky,
Looking from the bed I lie in.
I prefer the dusk over dawn,
Stargazing outside my window,
The stars shine, lighting the lawn.
A rascally fire caught my eye.
It looked at me with crescent moons.
A crooked smile, cunning and sly.
Soot burnt paws trampled the grass,
It held my gaze but a moment,
I stared back, breath staining the glass.
The little flame trotted away,
Leaving no trace upon the lawn.
It's thick smoke finally died out,
I lay awake, waiting for dawn.
