Neighborhood At Night
A ribbon of multicolored light descends behind trees and homes.
The darkness begins it’s daily engulfing.
The dog howls,
with concern in his voice,
Perhaps he sees things we don’t.
A seldom bird retreats,
to its place of rest,
Silhouetted in the night sky.
As visibility diminishes,
Sounds of the approaching night
increase voluminously.
Rhythmic crickets,
chirp with confidence.
The dog patrols its territory,
with a nose to the ground,
ears stiff full of Information.
The wind swiftly sweeps,
through leaves and branches.
The moon shares its glow,
On the night landscape.
