Printer Troubles (sleeping through my alarm)

I woke up late today, not that it’s a shock, but I slept though my alarm and was going to be late for class (again), so I threw on clothes from my floor (not even realizing what they were until I entered into the light and let’s just say the outfit was … interesting). As I made my way down the street (well, more like running down the street) I had accidently bumped into a woman who by her reaction was clearly not in the mood. “Hey do you mind watching where you’re going?” she yelled. “Wow, I’m really sorry!” I added (trying to do my best impression of an apology coming from a toddler, not even knowing what they did). “I’m sort of in a rush. Sorry again!” speaking as I walked away (not). I kept going as she yelled something about how everyone has places to go (blah blah blah). As I made progress toward the academic buildings, I was plagued with an internal debate… should I stop for coffee or should I not? I decided I was too tired to not stop and needed a coffee if I wanted to stay awake and perform to the best of my ability in my classes today (this of course was simply the way I convinced myself I could be late for class when in all actuality… I was gunna stop either way).  I entered Dunkin Donuts and was faced with one of the longest lines I have ever seen. I once again reasoned that without the caffeine I wouldn’t be able to concentrate and added myself to the cue of people. (Honestly, it felt more like I was in line as Disneyworld… utterly mind numbing) As I waited in line I listened to people have conversations with each other and talking about the day ahead of them (so basically complaining about everything and anything they could find to complain about). I stood quietly to myself listening to my music and mindlessly stepping forward every once in a while following the person ahead of me. I was so lost in my own world I hadn’t even noticed I was next in line until the person behind me pointed it out (and by pointing it out I mean nudging me forward, quite aggressively if I may add). I went up to the counter apologizing for holding up the line. The woman’s face clear of any emotion waiting for me to tell her what I wanted (clearly not caring about my obvious half---- apology and just wanting to get on with her day). I asked for my usual and found the sea of students also waiting for their order to be called. I stood at the back knowing I’d have to wait more than a couple minutes. I zoned out as I heard the number 507 yelled over the roaring of the crowd. I made my way through (more like pushed my way through like my life depended on it) and grasped my coffee from the gentleman who made it (also with a bleak slightly annoyed expression as if I didn’t find him fast enough). I gave him a passing glance smiling slightly in hopes he would return the gesture but to no avail, I walked away (I actually think his face got more annoyed. He clearly sensed the smile was fake but I mean come on, at least I was trying!) I walked (sulked) through the hallways and found my class, stopping briefly knowing everyone would be staring. I entered holding my coffee behind me as I heard my professor speak, “Amanda, you’re late” (as if I wasn’t aware?). “Yeah, I’m really sorry about that, my printer was acting up this morning. I had to wait for it to unfreeze so I could print out my homework” (lying through my teeth no doubt, but I thought it was a pretty good excuse if I do say so myself) “alright well sit down and I’ll add you to the attendance” (wait… did that actually work?). I took my seat (hoping he wouldn’t notice the freshly brewed coffee in my hands) and apologized once more “ok, I’m really sorry, it won’t happen again” (until tomorrow).
