The Extrodinary Incident

I watched as the leaves of an oak tree fluttered silently to the cold earth, covering the forest floor with an elaborate display of reds and oranges. The sun was beginning to set, casting a skimming glow across the tops of the trees. Breathing in the cooling air I realized that it must be getting late and I should be getting home, for the sun was setting and it would be dark soon. Standing up I found my rump to be rather sore after sitting on the ground for quite some time. I took my bow and began to walk towards the meadow where I had left my horse. Emerging from the line of trees into the meadow was like leaping into a picture. Long grass waved golden and green like a rich sea. Yonder my horse raised his head and came galloping towards me as I whistled for him. I began to unstring my bow, taking the string I tied it into an extremely complicated knot in which my own self did not know how to untie. This would serve as a puzzle for me later tonight, perhaps after supper would be a good time to begin. The galloping grew louder and suddenly the muscular horse stood in front of me gallantly waiting for my mount on his strong back. Crawling onto the horse energy seemed to fill inside my chest. I kicked my horse sharply in the ribs sending a burst of power and acceleration to the horse. Within an instant im travelling 30 mph across an open field toward my house. The wind so quickly whipping on my face leaving eyes watering and mouth dry. Unexpectedly the horse’s legs buckle throwing me straight forward. I looked down and saw the grass beneath me become a blur looking for my crash landing the most dreadful sight took place. A large heavy jagged rock which seemed to be just looking for trouble appeared. My head was pointing down and the rock was now near. I knew I would be my way out of this world soon. Closing my eyes I just let it happen. My head smashed into the rock blacking out feeling no pain.

Waking up in my own bed was very surreal I had known what had happened and where I was, although still I could not believe my life had not been taken. Bandages surrounded the left side of my head forcing my neck to strain for the uneven weight. Longing for my mother I drew in a breath of air and pushed out a “hello?”. The women who had raised me for 16 years strided through the door. Overfilled with joy I threw the sheets off of my bed and ran to meet her. To my surprise I could run. Nothing seemed to be the matter. Hugging her felt tremendous after such and outstanding close call. I extended my arms from her body and looked at her. The moment my gaze cast across her face the moment I knew something was different. Her facial expression spoke to me in a way it never had before. Things that had never been apparent to me were revealing themselves. Every eye twitch lip contraction mad sense to me. It was if my brain had entered and entirely new dimension. I felt fresh, free, and full of the hidden secrets in which were imbedded in the world. Stepping backwards I remembered the knot in my pocket. I reached my hand down and grabbed the tangled mess. The moment my eyes were set upon the mess of a rope it began to reveal the solution. Untangling it I realized that the impact I had taken from the accident had joggled my brain and tweaked it in suck a way that I was now extremely intelligent.

The world is now a different place for me. Looking at it in a different way every day. Seeing a new light among universal studies through the blinders that had covered my eyes from the truth before the accident. I enrolled into Harvard and made it in. at 21 I had earned a P.H.D in mathematics, science, and literature. One evening I decided to give a visit to my mother not seeing her in over 3 years had really been something else. Busy conjuring up theories and contemplating the universe had been taking up much of my time. Looking out the window of the carriage overlooking the town I had grown up in it seemed inconceivable the amount of success I had succumbed throughout the years. Arriving at my old home was very satisfactory. My mother greeting me at the door sent me back to the days I used to have when I was a child sitting in the woods with my bow across my lap. This made me decide to awake early the next morning to set my bow and head for the trees.

At 24 sitting up In my old bed made me feel young again, I crawled out from under the covers and slipped on my clothing along with my shoes. Stringing my bow gave me energy and I started off towards the woods. The sun was setting as I walked across the meadow that had given me such success 8 years ago. The line of trees looked all the same entering to forest, 3 miles into the familiar forest I sat down on the ground and rested my back upon a strong oak. Settling in my body took over and I fell asleep waking at sunset. The sun was setting, it was fall, beginning to get dark. I watched as the leaves of an oak tree fluttered silently to the cold earth, covering the forest floor with an elaborate display of reds and oranges. At this moment I realized as a kid and me now with a brain like no one else. I still could not wrap my head around the beauty of nature.
