Shadow
A shadow
Not one that creeps up behind you
But one that is inside you

 My shadow is me
Or what used to be me
It haunts me day and night

 When I wake up
 It’s already there
I can’t get rid of it
But not for lack of trying

 It stays above me
 Darkening my path
 It won’t leave me alone

 My shadow is me
Or what used to be me
It haunts me day and night
 It won’t leave me alone

 My shadow smiles
 I frown back at it
 It beckons to me
 But I ignore it

 I try to run
 I try to hide
 But it always finds me
 Its cold hand
 On my shoulder
 Gives me the chills
 It haunts me

 My shadow is me
Or what used to be me
It haunts me day and night
 It won’t leave me alone

 I’m sick of it
 I hate the darkness
I turn around and face it
 But then it fades away
