Artificial
An artificial facial expression is what I wear.
It hides the pain behind a smile,
I hide the tears behind a yawn.
They try to escape but I hold them in.
I hide the desolation behind fake words of elation.
The physical signs of hurt are covered
by cloth that conveys all is well, the seas are calm.
No one notices the sufferings.
But then again,
it’s amazing how much you can hide with long sleeves and a smile.
