This Is A Photograph Of me
It was taken, quite possibly, 10 days ago
But I already know-
It is like all the other photographs:
The main focus of the photograph
Is..not me
Caught by accident, a glitch in time
Puts her here...again.
There are four houses in the background,
One is in the center, far away, hidden by
Tall dead trees, frozen by icy winter bite.
Five windows, dark and mysteriously differently sized,
One is smaller than the other four.
In that small window
The one hardly worth noticing,
That is where I am.
Unnoticed.
Never looked for.
I am sane in this picture
In the dark, hidden.
The girl you see wouldn’t know me
Only my myth, only the rumors
She smiles, ignorant of the world.
At a certain angle, you can see my shadow
With a certain lighting, maybe
But- you wouldn’t think to look, and
Eventually, there won’t be a reason to.
I won’t be there anymore.

In life it is common that with all the happenings occuring around us, we tend to not notice things of importance. We as humans are distracted by the shiny and we pass by the dull. In my piece I highlight this common flaw in humanity. There will come a time when you'll have to stop, take a moment, and notice. I only hope that with my piece a person will make their own self reflection and be more aware.
