We Fall
We fall, we can
The worries of a child used to be getting through school and having fun
But now, we fall
Into a labyrinth of sounds and smells, misdirection and misfortune
A labyrinth with no exit
A maze with no prize
Now the worries are their peers, where any of them with a gun can kill
Columbine, Sandy Hook, Stoneman Douglas
But it's not just the students
It's also the adults who helped teach us to shoot and stab and kill and rape and steal
We fall, into a country of rising disarray and chaos
A labyrinth with no exit
A maze with no prize
Unless
We
Change
We can change, we can fix this
We can put our country back together
We can find our key, we can find the exit, and yes
We can earn our prize
We can teach our kids to love, and to accept
To love those that harm us, and those that loathe us
And to forgive
We can climb from the hole
We can rise from the depths
We can return the worries of school and fun
The pieces are in place for us
All we have to do is find them
We can
