Clockwork
Gears turning
Hands moving
The spring tightens with a key
Dominoes
Each time a minute passes,
Each time the hour flies by
A gear moves
Which moves another gear
And another
All just to move one hand, to align it with a number
One the white circle of time
Counting the hours until my release
The minutes until lunch
The seconds until I get to see her again
But I’ve lost the key
Time stands still, I struggle to get it going again
I’m stuck
The same time shows every day
The depression shows every day
Unable to move
You have the key
Wind me up and help me get going again
Some extra care, maybe new gears or some oil
But eventually I’ll start moving again
And I’ll be ticking
