When I'm Not Here
He walks aimlessly hoping to find a friend.
He passes others in the halls.
I see his eyes light up with a spark when I enter.
But they dim when I leave.
I wish I teach him how to gain friends,
How to be kind and sweet to all.
He is the physical embodiment of a cry for help.
Who will help him when I am gone?
Who will make him feel loved and adored?
Who will treasure his small hands and feet?
Who will soothe his tummy when he doesn’t feel well?
Who will ever love him besides me?

I was really inspired by my cat. I treat him like my son, so when I noticed how depressed he was, I started feeling really sad for him. I hope that readers can really feel the emotion and sadness and can put themselves in the shoes of a parent who is worried about his or her child.
