We are Like Stars
We are like stars, connected shining bright lights in that big sky above us.
You used to tell me this all the time when you were sick. We are like stars, bursting at the seams with all of the energy we hold.
We are like stars, for nothing can destroy us other than ourselves. In your case the cancer was a demon you didn’t know you had within you.
We are like stars, twinkling so beautifully at night, or if you look close enough during the day.
We are like stars, but you are above and I am down below. We shine in different worlds but we are still together.
We are small and there are millions of us so we can’t let the power of the sun knock us down.
We are like stars, in one universe, lighting up those dull ones around us.
As one we stand united bringing light on those dark nights just like stars.
You are my star, Mom.
You are my reason I keep going.
Watching over me like an angel in heaven.
Do you hear me talking to me? Down here in this grass we used to play in together.
Do you see me? In my accomplishments I do.
I see you mom. You are my star.
