Cold and Sweet
Stepping inside out of the brisk December air,
greeted by warmth of the oven.
Venturing deeper and deeper:
sweetness of chocolate melting, butter and sugar.
Walking into the kitchen blurs running
back and forth, back and forth from sink to stove.
I sit and wait, watching
when all of a sudden,
a cheer comes from across the kitchen.
My mom finishes the batch
she gives one to all of us.
First bite and the chocolate starts melting
the carmel center still sticky.
The sweetness almost too much
yet not enough at the sametime.
