The Redeemed

Just one glance…
The deceitful lust and lies of the substance lured her in
Finding instant gratification, she began to plunge herself in
Deeper and Deeper
Into what became a broken cry

One glance wasn’t enough…
Innocent eyes pierced with shameful, humiliated acts
She crippled herself to only knowing what was an allusion
Deeper and Deeper
Her broken cry became more desperate

Her glances became stares…
Day and night, she was consumed with filth and misery
Her longing to escape was muffled by her shame
Deeper and Deeper
She slowly died to her addiction

Her hopeful dreams and aspirations slipped away
As she sank deeper into a ocean of guilt and shame
Yearning  for hope and love and light
She cried out to a God above

Looking upon with love
Her heavenly Father stretches his hand
And pulls her out of her pain, shame, regret
And calls her “my beloved”

He lavishes her with love and forgiveness
Pouring out his glorious grace
Until her soul knows well that she is loved
And is a daughter of a beautiful King

He crowns her as a princess
More precious than any other jewel
Forgiving the filth and misery she once pursued
Loving her with no measures

Love is all that God knows
To be loved by Him gives strength to love others
To be known by Him plants a joy no other person can offer
To be prized by Him musters a courage to write this poem
