Moonlight Path
My feet slowly sink into the saturated sand as I walk blindly into the abyss of the moonlit shore. Old 2000’s pop plays in the background, though I can barely hear it over the sound of waves crashing into the eroded rocks. From time to time I reminisce about walking along the vast Flordia coast in the late hours of the night. The beach is finally quite during the short dark hours. My being feels insignificant compared to the world around me. I gaze at the countless number of stars in the sky thousands of miles above.
I crouch onto my knees and stare at the reflection of the moon, vaguely lighting the path across the ocean before myself. A wave of relief rushes through my body as I am reassured that the shimmering stars will return each night to comfort me through my loneliness.

Personal experiences inspired me to write this piece. Every night that I was in Flordia I walked the beach and I felt my most at peace.
