Split
My heart belongs there
But my head stands here
Split
My happiness is found there
But it is lost here
Split
My family is there
But my education is here
Split
My roots are there
But my dreams are here

The author's comments:

My inspiration for this poem was a painting of Frida Kahlo in the middle of the U.S. and Mexico border.
I tried to show the struggle immigrants face everyday by showing both the emotions they feel towards Mexico and the U.S.
