Strong
She was Vegas
Sparkling all over
Bright features
Cherished treasure
She was the city
That broke apart once
Then recovered
Stood strong
She is the city
Where the lights shine bright
No matter what day
Bad or good
Her scars are found
Deep within her
Yet she still
Stood strong

Vegas is my home since I moved from France as a young child. After the shooting that took place the beginning of October, I was crestfallen that the place I called home fell down from the multiple deaths that occurred from the shooting. Vegas for days was full of emptyness and sorrows, but a few weeks later the beautiful city overcame the fear by staying strong and remaining one of the most touristic cities of the world. I use Vegas to compare a strong woman in my poem to show that a woman goes through many obstacles in her life like Vegas does, yet she still survives and remains beautiful.
