Ode to Heartbreak
Trust me, I know how it feels
I know exactly how it feels to cry in the shower
So no one can hear your muffled sobs
Or to wait until 3am
So no one can hear you fall apart
I know how much it hurts,
So bad
So badly you just want it all to end
I know exactly how it feels
To look at your heart
Lying on the floor
Shattered like a beer glass
Not knowing which piece to follow
That’s heartbreak
Trust me, I know
Here’s to the night where he left me
Alone in the street
The night I stood alone and cried so hard
I couldn’t breathe
To the night I prayed for him to come back
And to the night where he never looked back
That night I realized
It was time to start over
To look at the shattered pieces of my heart,
Pick the one I liked the most
And build it up from there
You will realize that turning the page
Is the best feeling in the world because
You never realized that there was so much more to the book than
The page you were stuck on
You will go through hell but come out
Strong, forged in fire
Better than you’ve ever been
So when you can’t help but cry
And it feels like it’s the end
Let your mind and heart rest for awhile
The world will not stop spinning but
You will catch up
So get some rest
Take a shaky breath
Eventually it will be okay
Look at the broken pieces of your heart and
Take your pick
And while you’re at it,
Make sure to thank heartbreak.
