In times of desperation,
we fall to the ground
hard.
They started soaring
but soon came crashing,
most reached the sky
others to the dirt.
How.
When.
Why.
Some in uniform,
charging forward.
Some lost in debris,
swarmed by a pile,
of ash.
Sons are darting toward their mothers, daughters questioning,
where is their father, mother, uncle, sister, brother. Why them.
Members lay in the orange flames, determine enough to escape.
Do or die.
Never give up.
It’s not the first one, but hopefully it will be the last time.
Rushing in the smoke addicts, adrenaline junkies, fearless crowds,
it all must be a dream. Some still wonder if that was the real life.
All gone,
feeling
Pain.
Despair.
People still stand together,
but also farther away.
We are still searching,
for the lost and found.
This is a time to
Remember

Unexplainable

The author's comments:

I wrote this piece to remember the victims and the events that occurred during 9/11. I placed the title at the ending as to bring the overall feeling at the end. What happened that day is unexplainable, and nobody has the right or wrong answers to why that day had to happen.
