Death Has a Companion
I woke up afraid.
It was cold and dark.
I looked up
at a kind hooded figure
who lent me his hand.
Though it was bone,
I gladly took it.
I smiled and stood.
“What happened?” I asked,
knowing him as Death.
“You fell” he whispered
in my ear
I took this in stride as we walked
Hand-in-Hand
A young girl and Death.
He showed me oblivion
and when he could not follow
I cried.
He gave me a hug and told me
he’d visit.
I wouldn't go.
So now
Death has a
Companion
