Brace

Watching her limping
As I slowly fold my hands, glancing
Over the lime green plastic
And black specks popping
Up and down.
She scrunches her face
With eyes gradually becoming a dark sea.
Don’t make her run there
With her knee slowly crackling,
While the branches start sprouting.
Spreading the darkness all over.
Don’t make her drag herself
Across the the darkness as the ash
Snatches her down.
Trapped.
Don’t make her grasp
The black brace with claws digging in.
Don't make her smile
As the soft yellow petals tumbles,
Dissolving into the shadows.
Don’t make her hide
As the white snow slowly fades
With a small figure appearing from the corner.
Quivering.
Wanting to reach over as she drifts
Away into the endless blue sea
I will throw my hand out pulling,
Grabbing her away
From the shadows that consume her.
I will love her
Blanketing over the shivering body.
I will be there as she slowly raises
Shattering the rusted cage off.

This is about my friend who got hurt during Color Guard, and always tried to push herself.
